One of our favorite Christmas atmospheres in nearby historic Dandridge is at Roper Mansion and the aforementioned “shoppes” near to it. We wanted to take a minute to introduce you to the Shoppes at Roper Mansion in this spotlight article:
From their website:
A time of rejuvenation. A time of gentility, of grace. A time of the Roper Mansion.
The beautifully restored Federal home is a fitting setting for one of Dandridge’s newest shopping venues, the Shoppes at Roper Mansion.
Here guests will find period antiques, unusual collectibles, gift ideas, gourmet foods, vintage jewelry, an art gallery and a pet boutique. From the welcoming foyers to the quaint parlors. From the butler’s pantry to the ballroom. From the summer kitchen to the keeping room. From the sweeping porches to the restful gardens.
The Shoppes at Roper Mansion offer a unique shopping experience as well as the opportunity to tour the carefully restored Federal home.
The downstairs parlors feature formal European and American antiques, china, porcelain and silver. The adjoining butler’s pantry showcases vintage jewelry, unusual antiques and advertising items while gourmet food items, gift cards and cookbooks are served in the kitchen.
The upstairs foyer displays Victorian furniture and accessories, and the two parlors lure shoppers with an eclectic mix of furniture, fabrics, glassware and collectibles.
The graceful ballroom is now an art gallery featuring original oils from the 19th to the 21st centuries, signed and dated prints, sculpture and folk art.
The charming summer kitchen and keeping room feature country antiques and primitives while the seasonal garden room, Thyme After Thyme, offers an array of garden delights and furnishings. Outside the screen door, guests will find a peaceful retreat amid the flowers and herbs of the restored garden.
Our pet friendly shops center around “Oliver’s,” a boutique where pet lovers can purchase early Steiffs as well as animal motif gifts, collars and leashes, pet toys and treats.
